Review+Swatches: Revlon Super Lustrous L/S (Part 1 of 2)

One of the makeup products I find difficult to spend hard-earned cash on is lipstick (alongside with mascara...).  Maybe because I've tried high-end, really expensive ones and haven't been that impressed.   There are many drugstore brands that provide simply great quality.

You may already know Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks are one of my choices for drugstore makeup. At first, I didn't consider they were very moisturizing as Revlon claims, but I think now it depends on the formula. Anyway, as with any lipstick, I always apply lipbalm first on my lips, then the lipstick.  I should note that even when I haven't applied lipbalm, this product never have dried up on my lips, it just fades away. That has been my experience for years now.

These lipsticks come in a Cream (C) or Pearl (P) finish. The creamy ones are very pigmented and soft and the others are more shimmery but also fairly pigmented.  My lips are highly pigmented so to say that these products provide great coverage is huge for me.

I love they have so many shades available, I have 13 of them. Also 1 matte one and about 4 Shiny Sheers.  I know, I have issues. But come on, these are one of the little things I can indulge myself in, so....yeah.

I should mention, I like to play with them by mixing them or using them as a wash or tint all over my lips (specially the darker shades or shades that are just not right for me).

Price: $6-$8 USD at most drugstores/big dept. stores like Walmart.

NOTE:I have bought all of the lipsticks you see here mostly on bogo-free sales! Hurray for sales!

So, here are the swatches. Lighting and camera settings were adjusted to get the closest-to-real-life color. Since there are a lot of pics, I will divide this article in two posts. Here are the first seven lippies (click on all pics for enlarged versions).

New poll: What type of makeup do you mostly do MON thru FRI?

Thanks to those of you who answered my last question (favorite eye primer).  TFSI won this round, 6 of 14 votes, LOL.

Now this one is more of a general question:

What type of makeup do you do mostly from Mondays thru Fridays? (Because I know many of you change your routines on weekends--well, I do  ^__^ )

The options:
---Full, Flawless Face (primer, foundation, blush, eye makeup, all the works...)
---Simple, more natural look (maybe tinted moisturizer, a touch of concealer, blush, some mascara and gloss)
---Does just mascara and gloss counts as makeup?
---I never wear makeup
---Other (leave your comment on this or any other subsequent article).

Review+Swatches: ELF Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF15

You may already noticed that I like cheap/affordable products as much high end products. Of course, being on a budget, I try to get the best products at a more reasonable price.  But pricey products are not always the best and cheap products aren't always the worse.  It's all about quality, baby.  I don't know you, but when I find a good quality product at a really cheap or affordable price, I get oh so happy...and my pocket...and my husband... ^__^  >D

That just happened to me with ELF the other day.  Okay, I didn't like the brand at first. Why? Well, I tried their single eyeshadows and they just didn't show on my eyelids, no matter what base I used.  Or at least, not with the intensity I expected. Very low pigmentation and too messy.  So I forgot all about them.  But lately I saw videos and read good reviews about their glosses and other products.  So I bought some lipglosses and bronzing powders to try them.  I mean, they cost a $1 after all... Let's talk about the glosses.

These glosses are amazing. They are soft, a bit thick and a little sticky, but not that much. I think their staying power  is good and the packaging is perfect.  It dispenses the product through a slanted tip (I guess that's what is called).  The glosses provide a SPF of 15, which is always great.  Only thing I don't like much is the scent. It's supposed to be Grape-Vanilla but that is not what I smell or taste...IDK.  But anyways, it just goes away.

Ingredients List:

Would I buy them again? Hell yes, I would love to try each one of them.  5/5!

Look: Groupie Girl Blues

LoL, I just like that title...

Yes, I know, finally another look with color! You know, I think I've lost my way with the brush because of not doing many colorful looks lately =(   Well, nothing else to do than to practice, practice, practice.

The story here is that I was at home yesterday evening enjoying a few minutes of peace and I...got bored. Hahaha. Go figure. Anyway about this look:  Will you believe me if I tell you I had my face makeup on for about 6hrs before adding eye makeup? And I'm mentioning this because I feel it still looks nice after all those hot hours.  The foundation combo I used (Revlon Colorstay mixed with Colorstay Active Light Makeup**) turned out to be perfect for me in terms of texture (and it also kept the oilies at bay).  I did applied a bit of Lancome Genifique Serum b4 adding my moisturizer, so I don't know if that helped. It is my first time using it so I can't be sure.  But my skin felt great.  I didn't even need to blot my face before retouching the makeup (I did it anyway, but the blotting paper came out almost clean... cool).

**I guess I will be doing a review on the Active Light makeup later on.

I added eyeshadow on the lower lash line in an imperfect manner, like I didn't even try for it to be perfect. I would have add more mascara for clumpy lashes but I already had on the Colossal Volume Express mascara and one thing it does not do is clump. Okay.

Well, enough of my personal photoshoot =P, here is what I used:

FACE
No primer/No Concealer--just Genifique w/ some DDF oil free moisturizer
REVLON Active light makeup in "Toast" mixed with Colorstay makeup in "Buff" -- yeah, I have those shades because I like to make my own customized color. Besides, I like the Active Light makeup but I don't think they have a color right for me.  =/
♥MAC Blot Powder in Medium Dark
♥SEPHORA Highlighting Powder in Dore (top of the cheeks)
♥MAC Beauty Powder in Shy Beauty

EYES
♥MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre all over lids up to brows
♥REVLON Illuminance Eyeshadow in "Moonlit Jewels" (just the blue shade as a base on lids)
♥L'OREAL HIP Eyeshadow in "Spirited"
♥MAYBELLINE Expert Eyes Eyeshadow Quads in "Designer Chocolates" (lightest shade to highlight the brow arch area)
♥MAC Blactrack Fluidline e/l
♥MAYBELLINE Colossal Volume Express Mascara in Glam Black
♥MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Stud

LIPS
♥Sally Hansen Healing Butter for Lips
♥Rimmel 1000 kisses Stay on Lip Liner in 049-Natural all over my lips
L'OREAL Colour Riche Lipstick in Dune
♥PALLADIO Herbal Lipgloss in Iced Rose

Hope you like this look. I think it is cool.  Have a nice weekend!
